New Director of Evangelization and Music

New Director of Evangelization and Music

To Midtown Catholic parishioners,

As you may have known, we have had several staff changes in our parish family. One of the positions that I believe will prove to be an especially important position going forward is one that is new to the Catholic Church, though not new to Midtown Catholic. Many of you had contact with TJ Simpson in his position as Director of Evangelization. At the beginning of October, he chose to take a different job for the sake of his family. I wish him well and thank him for his dedication to the church.

Because this position of Director of Evangelization is a critical position in the eyes of the Archdiocese, we had begun advertising for someone to take TJ’s place. It is with great satisfaction that I announce we have a replacement. It is with minimum disappointment that now we must advertise to find a replacement for Rachel Bielstein’s position of Religious Education Coordinator – she has taken on the Director of Evangelization role. Additionally, she will continue to work as Director of Music. I am also incredibly pleased that she is continuing to work for Midtown Catholic. So let me introduce you to our new Director of Evangelization…

Fr. Frank Jindra

Dear Midtown Catholic Parishioners,

I am excited to be taking on this new role as your Director of Evangelization and Music! Serving as your Coordinator of Religious Education and Liturgical Music for the past three years was a great chance for me to grow in my faith and ministry skills, and I am grateful for the experiences that I had.   Now, I feel that God is calling me to use my skills for Him and our community in new ways, and I see the Director of Evangelization role as a chance to do just that.

My goal is to always be open with you, so I want to let you know what to expect as I transition to
my new role:

  1. As Father mentioned, we will be searching for a new Coordinator of Religious Education.  To keep things running smoothly and to aid the new hire during their time of training and transition, I will not formally start my new role until we have a new Religious Education Coordinator in place and settled in.   This may take some time, but I will keep you updated along the way.
  2. I will still be the Director of Music for our parishes!  Although I will be moving away from Religious Education responsibilities, I will remain active in our music ministry. There will be no changes to my involvement in school Masses, youth choir, and musician leadership.
  3. Father and I are still learning what my role as the Evangelization Director will look like.  I will be doing some of what TJ used to do, but some changes will be made.  I will be collaborating with Father to learn and help execute his goals for serving our community and will also be working with the goals for discipleship outlined by the Archbishop. You will be in the loop every step of the way – evangelization cannot just be done with one person, and I am optimistic about getting our parishes more involved in these efforts!

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time if you have questions about this new journey for our parishes.  Also, please pray for me, Father, our staff, and our future Coordinator of Religious Education during this time.  Again, I am genuinely excited for the opportunity to serve you in a new way and thank you for your support.  I am honored to be part of such a kind and faithful community.

God Bless,

Rachel Bielstein
